"A Christmas Story" Tradition
indexhead

story
"A Christmas Story" was performed for appreciative crowds this December for the tenth year in a row, and in these 10 seasons the Players presented the show 65 times to 9,187 patrons at an average of 141 per show in a house that holds 150. Many of those patrons have been returning year after year to make the show their family tradition.

story
A tradition observed by many of the performers as well. Todd Smith returned this year as Ralph, the play's narrator, for the eighth time, which is the record for the most performances by one actor. Next up is Jamie Cornell with five performances. He returned as the Old Man for the fourth time this year, and he has also been the narrator. Jamie's son Liam Cornell has been in five shows as well, twice each as Randy and Ralphie and once as Scut.

story
A number of adult and child actors have performed in more than one show, and many of those actors returned for the Dec. 17 performance to take a bow on stage with this year's cast and to participate in the 10th anniversary cast party which took place right after the show. A great turn out and a great celebration!

"Wait Until Dark", written by By Frederick Knott, is a tense thriller with a heart-pounding final scene. A con man convinces Susy, the blind wife of Sam Hendrix, that the police have implicated Sam in a woman’s murder and that a doll he brought home from Canada is evidence. Believing it’s the key to his innocence, she refuses to reveal its location which starts a deadly game of cat and mouse that culminates in a dark night with the lights out leaving them both to maneuver in the dark until the game ends.
